What you should keep in your portfolio?
Quizzes: Keep your graded quizzes. This will help you prepare for exams and allow you to keep a record of your progress. If you were not here when a quiz was taken or you were not required to take the quiz, you will not be penalized. Examinations: Keep graded examinations in your portfolio. Notes: During the marking period, you will be taking two different types of class notes. Both types are to appear in your portfolio:
Handouts: On many occasions, you will receive important handouts for the class. The portfolio is the place to keep these handouts so that when you need them in the future to study, you will know where they are. How should you present these items? The manner in which you store and present these items is a personal choice. You can use a three-ring binder and hole-punch all items. You can get yourself an accordion folder and organize them in that manner. However, handing in a pile of papers is NOT acceptable. If you do that, your papers will be returned without credit and you must be better-organized. Your portfolio should reflect pride in what you have accomplished during the marking period. Please take the time to make it neat and organized. How will your portfolio be scored? Every item you are supposed to have in your portfolio will have a value. You will get credit for having these items. Artifacts: These are items you were given in class and are expected to have in your portfolio. They include: maps, charts, graded items like quizzes and tests, and items of particular interest like the course syllabus. Homework questions and class readings are NOT a part of the portfolio Notes: Class Notes and power point notes are scored on their detail. If you have all the class notes on the website in their entirety and in proper outline form, you will receive full credit. Deductions are made for missing notes. Your power point notes, taken in class, do not have to be in outline form but should reflect detail as you are supposed to be getting valuable information from the power points in the class Penmanship is NOT a factor scoring. Though students should take pride in their notes and keep them free of doodles. |
