TRIP INFORMATION
We live in the most exciting area of the country, rich in history, culture, and diversity. It is our desire to bring these advantages to our students by offering opportunities to explore this region. Field trips enhance a student's involvement in subject content taught in classrooms. They give students a chance to expand upon what they have learned.
CAN ANY CLASSROOM LESSON MATCH ANY OF THESE UNIQUE EXPERIENCES?
Every trip planned is designed for the "well-behaved majority" of our students. Our students are held to academic and conduct standards which they must meet in order to attend. Though not designed primarily for this purpose, these trips often provide us with the by-product of better behaved, and better motivated students.
Overnight field trips balance educational sites with various recreational activities. Students are encouraged to learn about and appreciate the cultural differences between their hometowns and the places we visit. For some, it is their first time away from home. Social skills (such as living with a roommate) are also enhanced by these opportunities. Understanding how to use a subway, knowing when to applaud at a Broadway play, learning to compute sales tax, and even developing a "taste" for lobster are not necessarily "Delaware" attributes, but are dividends students receive from the experiences of our field trips.
We believe the lives our students are enhanced by taking advantage of these opportunities.
