WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
The trip is designed for the well-behaved majority of students in our school. There is a basic assumption that while on the trip, students will follow the instructions of adults without debate.
Students need to have a track record of good conduct… an indicator of the cooperation expected on the trip. This trip is a privilege which must be earned by the day to day positive interactions at school. Any student wishing to attend will need to carefully read the contract which will detail our expectations for conduct. Parents and students should ask clarifying questions to make sure we are all on the same page with expectations for eligibility.
The trip is open to any current students, 9th grade alumni and their families.
PARENTS WELCOME
We welcome parents on this trip. Unlike other trips, this trip will have a very low ratio of students to adult chaperones. We expect parents will want to attend however; it is not mandatory that a student bring their parent(s). The 2018 version of this trip actually had more adults than children on the trip
HANDLING FAMILIES
Many families will want to go. We do what we can to accommodate families. As space may be limited, our priority is for the students and adult chaperones. We allocate space for families after all students have registered for the trip. In the 2018 trip, we had 2 full families join us
Infant children are not encouraged on this trip.
All adults on the trip will have minor chaperone duties. We provide release time for adults and families. This includes some afternoons free, or an “adult-only” activity, but for the most part, all adults on the trip must be prepared to assist the students we bring. School staff will also accompany us on the trip with full chaperone duties.
